Gdy powstał kwejk mała garstka ludzi zaczeła szukać czegokolwiek i gdziekolwiek , żeby zadowolić tą masę.U ludzi (gimby) tych zanikła całkowicie lub prawie całkowicie umiejętność szukania czegoś w internecie, mówię teraz o wzrastającym debiliźmie u coraz to młodszych osobników.

AuctionFocus on Breguet, Patek Philipe, Vacheron Constantin and IWC— Sothebyâs Geneva Auction of Important Watches on 12 November 2013 will present an exclusive selection of pocket watches, vintage and modern wristwatches.http://goo.gl/5jZL5NMarking the 190th anniversary of Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823), Sothebyâs Geneva auction of Important Watches on 12 November 2013 will celebrate the legacy of the father of modern watchmaking. The sale will be led by a highly important and rare pocket watch made circa 1831 by Breguet and coming directly from the descendants of the great collector Sir Richard Wallace (1818-1890). This prime example of Breguetâs creative genius will be presented alongside an impressive offering of 330 timepieces, covering 200 years of watch history. Further highlights from the sale include exclusive vintage and modern wristwatches as well as rare complicated timepieces. Pocket watchesPocket watches feature strongly in this autumn sale. The centerpiece â an extra flat pair cased gold half quarter repeating pocket watch with equation of time, power reserve, indication calendar and moon phase based on chronometer principles â was bought from Breguet by Lord Henry Seymour Conway in Paris in 1831 and thereafter bequeathed to his brother Richard Seymour Conway, 4th Marquis of Hertford and then to Sir Richard Wallace (1818-1890), his illegitimate son. Sir Richard Wallace - who inherited his father fortune and immense art collection - is widely known for the world-famous eponymous âWallace Collectionâ in London. This watch boasts an exceptionally large number of complications for a watch of this time, including equation of time complication, power reserve indication, calendar and moon phase based on chronometer principles. Only three watches of this period by Breguet are known to pertain to such a specific complication type and design: one is currently part of the collection of L.A. Mayer Museum for Islamic Art in Jerusalem; the other once belonged to SaĂŻd Pacha the Viceroy of Egypt and was passed on to his successor IsmaĂŻl Pacha. With their highly complex movements contained within an extra slim case, these impressive watches count among the most expensive timepieces created by the celebrated French watchmaker. Their original price ranged from 7,000 to 8,800 Francs, a substantial sum of money at the time.It is reported that Sir Richard Wallace wore this watch until his death. Coming directly from his descendants, the watch â lot 330 in the sale - will appear for the first time on the market with an estimate of CHF 600,000-1,000,000 ($650,000-1,080,000).Breguet pocket watch, lot 330. Š Sotheby's iwc The sale will pay tribute to Breguet and present a series of items that belonged to both Abraham-Louis Breguet and his son Antoine Louis. The property of their descendants, these lots include an oil portrait and a bronze bust of Abraham-Louis Breguet dating respectively from circa 1800 and 1830 (lot 325, est. CHF 20,000-40,000/$21,600-43,200, and lot 327, est. CHF 2,000-3,000/ $2,200-3,250) as well as Antoine Louis Breguetâs notebook from circa 1820, containing sketches, horlogical calculations and notes on his daily life and work (lot 326, est. CHF 6,000-10,000/ $6,500-10,800). The fine selection of rare pocket watches also includes a chronometer (ref. 923) made by Patek Philippe in 1985 (lot 170). Offered for sale by its original owner, this minute repeating keyless open face pocket chronometer with detent escapement was purchased from the famous Milanese retailer, Orologeria Luigi Verga in 1989, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Patek Philippe. It is the largest of the only two known examples of the reference 923 and comes to the market in immaculate condition with an estimate of CHF 100,000-200,000 ($108,000-216,000, illustrated right).Testament to Vacheron Constantinâs long tradition in the manufacture of complicated pocket watches, a fine yellow gold chronograph chronometer from circa 1925 is among the very few watches by the Swiss watchmaker with perpetual calendar, minute repetition and split seconds chronograph known to the market (lot 268, est. CHF 80,000-120,000/ $86,500-130,000).Patek Philippe ref. 923, lot 170 Š Sotheby'siwc aquatimer replica Vintage wristwatchesThe offering of vintage wristwatches is spearheaded by a rare model of Patek Philippeâs reference 1518 made in 1951 (lot 289). Together with the reference 1526, the reference 1518 was the first perpetual calendar wristwatch ever produced in series by the prestigious brand. Only 281 reference 1518 wristwatches were created between 1941 and 1954 and this yellow gold wristwatch with register tachometer and moon-phases carries an estimate of CHF 150,000-250,000 ($162,000-270,000, illustrated left). Highlighting this section are also two chronograph wristwatches from the 1940s. The first is a very rare example in stainless steel of the reference 3666 by Rolex dating from circa 1940 (lot 262, est. CHF 25,000-35,000/ $27,000-37,800). The second â a superb stainless steel and pink gold chronograph wristwatch by Audemars Piguet - is one of some ten examples of the reference 1533 produced by the watchmaker in 1941 (lot 261, est. CHF 15,000 - 25,000/ $16,200-27,000t).In 1930âs, the Italian Navy ordered from Panerai a water and pressure resistant watch with luminous numeral and index hour markers for their secret unit the â10a Flottiglia MASâ (10th MAS Fleet). The result was the "Radiomir" which included movements, cases, and crowns made by Rolex. The sale will include a rare example of stainless steel diverâs wristwatch made by Rolex for Officine Panerai in circa 1940 (lot 293, est. CHF 30,000-50,000/ $32,400-54,000, illustrated right). Modern wristwatchesComplementing the offer is a fine group of modern timepieces, led by a Grande and Petite Sonnerie wristwatch made by F.P Journe in circa 2006 (lot 97). This piece in stainless steel comes to the market with an estimate of CHF 250,000-350,000 ($270,000-378,000).A further highlight of this group is to be found in an exceptional prototype of the RM038 âBubba Watsonâ by Richard Mille dating from circa 2011. Made in honour of the golfâs champion, Gerry Lester Watson Jr. called âBubbaâ, this tonneau skeletonized tourbillon in a magnesium case features a movement designed to withstand the extreme G force created while playing golf (lot 147, est. Among them are an important platinum split seconds chronograph wristwatch (ref. 5959) by Patek Philippe (lot 158, est. Is it rude to ask guests to take their shoes off?By BETH J. HARPAZNovember 5, 2013 11:47 AM0sharesContent preferencesDone. View galleryThis Oct. 30, 2013 photo shows shoes on racks in the âmud roomâ at the home of Rachel Kerstetter in Cleveland. …

timberland NEW YORK (AP) â In Michigan, you're expected to leave snowy boots in the mudroom before going inside. In Alaska, boots are taken off in "Arctic entries." In Japan, Thailand and many other countries, you wouldn't dream of entering a home with your shoes on, regardless of the season.

timberland boot sale But removing shoes before coming inside has not been the norm in much of the U.S.

timberland fashion boots These days, however, city dwellers and suburbanites from New York to Los Angeles often find that hosts expect footwear to be left at the door. Sometimes it's because of weather; other times, homeowners want to protect light-colored rugs and high-gloss wood floors from dirt and dings, or parents don't want street germs on floors where kids play.

timberland discount shoes Some guests find the request irksome â especially at holiday parties when they're dressed up. "But this is an outfit!" squeals Carrie Bradshaw in a "Sex and the City" episode when asked to take her shoes off at a baby shower. (Insult to injury: Her high-heeled Manolos are stolen during the party.)

timberland shoes outlet Shalena Broaster of Philadelphia â whose friends call her "the diva" â says her first thought when asked to remove shoes is: "I just pray I have a fresh pedicure!" Since she's only 5 feet tall, she also misses the height her stilettos provide.

timberland fashion boots Classy hosts with a no-shoes rule hand out "guest socks" or inexpensive slippers that folks can take home. But please don't offer Broaster your old tube socks. "Nasty!" she said.

Rachel Kerstetter of Cleveland wrote on her blog, http://www.ProbablyRachel.com , that guests sometimes make her feel "like a criminal" for asking them to remove shoes. She offered 10 reasons why her household is "shoes-free," including preserving the carpet, allowing guests to relax and put their feet up, and keeping allergens out of the house along with "grass, leaves, mud, dirt, bugs, gum, oil, tar and yes, even animal poo."

For everyday comings and goings, Kerstetter and her husband use a mudroom by the back door. For company, they put a shoe rack in a small foyer near the front door.

"We like to walk around barefoot and we want to have our home clean," Kerstetter said. She "didn't grow up in a no-shoes household, but my parents taught me to ask" the host's preference before entering.

Another must for shoes-off parties: Put a chair by the door. Don't make guests hop unbalanced on one shoe while taking off the other. And put out a shoe rack so footwear doesn't end up in a pile.

Adi Bittan planned her wedding at the home of friends in Pescadero, Calif., before realizing that the hosts had a no-shoes rule. "We were worried how that would look and whether our guests would feel uncomfortable or embarrassed," she said. She solved the problem by buying fun socks â with no-skid soles â as one of the wedding favors. Even she and the groom wore them.

"Guests young and old ended up loving it," she said. "They compared colors, took photos with their fun socks on and were excited to take them home." Some of the women even thanked her for saving them from excruciating high heels.

But the pro-shoes crowd doesn't buy the no-shoes reasoning. If you're worried about wood floors, they say, invest in inexpensive rugs. Protecting a white carpet? Roll it up. Tracked-in dirt? Mop or vacuum.

"It is the height of tacky to invite guests to your home and then require that they remove anything more than outdoor attire," said Jodi R.R. Smith of Mannersmith Etiquette Consulting in Marblehead, Mass. "It is one thing to ask me to leave my L.L. Bean boots at the door for a Super Bowl party held during a snowstorm in New England. It is another to ask me to remove my heels at a cocktail party where everyone is dressed in suits and dresses."

If you must ban shoes, says Smith, the invitation should say so. "Guests should not be surprised by your request," she said. Imagine the mortification of a guest whose socks have holes.

Jessica Gottlieb of Los Angeles says she is "disgusted when people want me to take my shoes off in their home. ... OK, I get it for upstairs areas or bedrooms or even if you're Japanese. But if you're my American friend who just wants a clean floor, forget about it. It's a power play and no, you don't get to undress me.

"My shoes are there," she added, "to keep me comfortable, cute and free of your foot fungus."

Williams saves best for last BC home gameNovember, 16, 2013Nov 167:27PM ETBy Jack McCluskey | ESPN.comRecommend 0Tweet 0Comments 0 EmailPrintCHESTNUT HILL, Mass. north face -- When the Eagles run onto the field at Alumni Stadium through the tunnel beyond the north end MPCforum, they're watched over by four of the greats in Boston College history. The banners that hang behind the grandstands in that corner are emblazoned with the likenesses of William Green, Mike Cloud, Pete Mitchell and Luke Kuechly.Though the real estate is limited, and the current occupants all earned those spots, Andre Williams made an argument Saturday that maybe one day his likeness should be hanging over that tunnel.[+] Enlarge Greg M. north face jackets Cooper/USA TODAY Sports Andre Williams capped another record-setting day with a 34-yard touchdown run. the north face outlet online sale In his final home game, Williams had the biggest performance yet in an epic senior season that's rewritten the record books."He's the leading rusher in America. the north face outlet He stands for what's right in college football," coach Steve Addazio said after Williams led the Eagles to a 38-21 win over NC State to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2010. the north face outlet "He's certainly without a doubt one of the more dominant players in college football. the north face outlet online And he's an unselfish guy who realizes that he has a great offensive line in front of him and realizes that it's a team game."The 6-foot, 227-pound senior said during the week he wasn't trying to top his performance from last week. But he did anyway.Seven days after a 30-carry, 295-yard game at New Mexico State, needing 256 yards to set a BC single-season rushing record, all the senior back did was rush 42 times for 339 yards and two touchdowns. He ran through defenders. He ran around defenders. And when he got in the open field, he ran away from defenders. On one play in the second half, he bowled NC State corner Josh Stanley over backward before being swarmed by five or six Wolfpack defenders. When the pile dissipated and it was only Williams on the ground, Stanley and linebacker Robert Caldwell reached down and gave him a hand up.Then Caldwell slapped him on the helmet, the ultimate sign of respect."He's a great back and a hard runner, and he had a pretty physical offensive line," Caldwell told reporters after BC piled up its most rushing yards in a game (420) since 1973. "I give him props. He's leading the nation in rushing yards, so he's obviously the man when it comes to running."Williams broke his one-week-old BC record for rushing yards in a game, set an ACC single-game record (breaking John Leach's record of 329) and blew past Cloud's single-season rushing record (1,726 yards in 1998) to finish the game with 1,810.It was Williams' eighth game with 100-plus yards and fourth game with 200-plus in 2013. It was only the fifth 300-yard game in ACC history. The 339 yards is the most on the ground in a Football Bowl Subdivision game this season. As if that wasn't enough, he tied his single-game record for attempts with 42.What do you think of BC RB Andre Williams' candidacy for the Heisman Trophy? 36% The nation's leading rusher should be a finalist 35% He'll get some votes but won't crack the top five 29% He's not in contention with BC under the radar (Total votes: 2,827) And he's not done yet. There are two games to go.Before every game, Williams said he prays for the resolve to be able to play 60 minutes. So despite being banged up -- Addazio said he's been dealing with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder for a while -- and having already matched his BC single-game record of 295 yards with the Eagles up 10 and less than two minutes to play, he was back out there late."It was my last game in Alumni Stadium. The emotions I was feeling before the game and during the game were just crazy," Williams said. "It really wasn't hard to get back on the field and get another run out there. Even though I was hurting, even though I was tired, none of those things really mattered because there was just so much on the line. Everything that we wanted was right in front of us."With less than a minute to go, facing a second-and-11 at the NC State 34, Williams got the call one last time. It should come as no surprise what happened next. The big back burst through the left side, shed one tackler and streaked down the field and into the end MPCforum to put a fitting cap on an unbelievable performance. After he crossed the goal line, Williams slowed and gave his head a little shake, as if even he couldn't believe the day he had.Williams said he was inspired by his memories of Montel Harris setting the BC career rushing record in 2011, by his parents being on hand for senior day and by the goals the Eagles set in preseason -- win the opener and become bowl eligible -- being within reach. His performance, in turn, inspired some media members to put "Andre Williams" and "Heisman Trophy" in the same sentence postgame. It wasn't a perfect outing, two fumbles marring an otherwise masterful performance, but no one on the BC sideline was complaining.ESPN Stats & Information After rushing for an ACC-record 339 yards on Saturday, Andre Williams moved to the top of the career chart. Asked if Williams should be in the conversation for the Heisman, quarterback Chase Rettig said yes."I think he's a great player," Rettig said. "Obviously I think he could be with those guys, no doubt. I think a lot of that stuff has to do with winning and kinda being in the spotlight, and that's totally understandable. If you watch some of his games against some of the bigger teams we've played, he had great games against them."That's for other people to decide, but we know that he's our Heisman."What more can the Eagles ask of Williams?"I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for more next week," right tackle Ian White said. "His motor doesn't stop."And neither will the Eagles. Not with two games left in the regular season, two more chances to improve their résumé for the bowl game selectors."Obviously we're as hungry as we were a week ago today to get our seventh win right now," Addazio said. "And we're moving forward. This is not our defining moment. It's a great moment, but it's not our defining moment."History was made Saturday, Williams leaving a mark in his final game in Chestnut Hill that may never be equaled. But luckily for Eagles fans, he's not done just yet. After Williams' outstanding output the past two weeks, Harris' career rushing record sits just 348 yards away."We have to stay focused and realize that there's more on the table to go for," Williams said. "There's a lot of things that we can really go after."There's always more history to be made.Jack McCluskey is an editor for ESPN.com and a frequent contributor to ESPNBoston.com. tiffany OTTAWA—Gold necklaces, hockey tickets, camcorders, iPods, spa visits — even a gift card for the liquor store.

tiffany rings This is some of the half-million dollars of booty that one federal department has handed out to favoured workers in the past five years.

tiffany jewelry outlet The Treasury Board Secretariat , with about 1,900 employees, now spends well over $100,000 each year on rewards for staff.

tiffany and co outlet The annual value has quadrupled since 2006, when the Conservative government first came to power.

cheap tiffany & co jewelry The value hit a peak of $135,000 in 2011, the year the Conservative government began cutting staff and programs to wipe out the federal deficit by 2015.

tiffany outlet store Treasury Board President Tony Clement has recently criticized the benefits available to public servants, and publicly vowed to trim them, putting him at odds with unions.

Tony Clement to ‘poor performers’: work harder or you’ll be let go

But internal documents show his department has been ever more generous with its so-called “Instant Awards” program, sometimes handing out goods and services worth as much as $500 a pop.

The haul includes a Sears sewing machine, a notebook computer, a Tiffany ring and a Garmin GPS device, along with a wide range of cash cards for spas, restaurants, gas stations, pubs, Toys “R” Us, Canadian Tire, Shoppers Drug Mart, Tim Hortons and Starbucks.

The cheapest employee rewards have been $10 gift cards for coffee shops or for a bowling alley. One worker was handed a French grammar book worth $14.65, which to some may sound more like a punishment than a reward.

At the high end, many employees were given $500 gift cards for use at Best Buy, for example, or at the Rideau Centre mall in downtown Ottawa.

One worker in the “expenditure management sector” got a $50 gift card for use at any LCBO retail outlet.

The internal documents, obtained by The Canadian Press under the Access to Information Act, list the names of the workers but do not spell out the reasons for the hundreds of awards.

Such awards are considered taxable benefits under Canada Revenue Agency rules, and are often listed under both their “gross” value, reported to the taxman, and the “net” value in the hands of the worker.

A $10 gift certificate to Second Cup, for example, is listed as worth $14.29 gross, as reported to CRA. The difference is the tax the employee is expected to pay on the benefit, tax that is paid out by the department.

Awards programs have a cap of $500 net for each item or cash card.

Controversy over employee awards arose a year ago, when a New Democrat MP asked several departments whether they had purchased tickets for sporting events. Clement’s response was that the Treasury Board had bought four employees $1,109 worth of NHL tickets to Ottawa Senators games between 2009 and 2011.

The minister banned purchases of sporting event tickets soon after the NDP made the information public.

The Foreign Affairs Department also banned such purchases when it was revealed that officials had spent $69,498 on hockey and baseball tickets at U.S. missions between 2006 and 2012, largely to promote Canadian exports.

Federal policy encourages rewards for employees’ good work, but notes that “recognition often has no cost involved.”

“Informal and no-cost recognition — it takes a minute,” says a human resources document on the Treasury Board website.

“Write a Bravo card — leaving a card on the employee’s desk just to say ‘Bravo, job well done’ … Stick a post-it-note saying ‘Thanks’ on the employee’s workspace.”

Most departments and agencies have employee recognition programs, many with an “Instant Awards” element, a management tool authorized across government in 1990.

One internal survey showed managers prefer “Instant Awards” programs because they’re easy to administer and less expensive than more formal awards.

The Treasury Board, which is responsible for government-wide policies on access to information, delivered the “Instant Awards” documents more than two months after expiry of the statutory deadline set by the Access to Information Act.

A department spokeswoman did not respond to a request last week for comment and information.

Value of ‘Instant Awards’ given to workers at Treasury Board Secretariat, by calendar year:

2006: $24,515.42

2007: $34,625.70

2008: $68,548.24

2009: $90,646.60

2010: $112,176.90

2011: $134,822.01

2012: $110,293.84

Gift Guide: Beats headphones and smooth Sonos among sub-$500 gift ideas for wireless audio

pandora (Monster, Inc., Stephen Gutierrez/ Associated Press ) - This photo provided by Monster, Inc. shows the Monster iSport Freedom headphones. Meant for a workout, these on-ear headphones are made of sweat-resistant plastic and rubbery material and will give you a tight-fitting hug.

CAPTIONBy Associated Press ,

pandora silver LOS ANGELES — If “unplugged” acoustic music was a hallmark of the ‘90s, surely “wireless” listening is the big trend of the ‘10s.

pandora outlet online Sure, we’ve been essentially wireless since the radio came out a century ago. But today’s Internet-connected mobile devices often require cords to hook up to accessories like speakers and headphones. And these cords can result in a knotty nightmare in your bag.

Monday's photos of the day

pandora outlet shops Several wireless gadgets I tried out recently should keep music lovers a bit more tangle-free this holiday season.

___

— Beats Studio Wireless ($380):

This plush set of over-ear headphones almost mirrors Beats’ popular Studio line, but comes with wireless ability for an $80 increase in price. Like the wired-only model, this puts you in a cocoon with its noise-canceling technology, which works even if you just want padded silence. The sound is crisp, and the bass is deep.

A button on the outside of the left ear cup operates like the button on standard iPhone earbuds: one click to pause, two to skip forward and so on. A disc-shaped button turns the volume up and down.

The headphones promise 12 hours of wireless listening and 20 hours if you connect the cord, which is included.

Nearly $400 for headphones is pricey, but whoever gets this as a holiday gift will be mightily pleased. It’s an outstanding way to bliss out during a noisy commute. It works as a headset for phone calls, too.

___

— Monster iSport Freedom ($250):

Meant for a workout, these on-ear headphones are made of sweat-resistant plastic and rubbery material and will give you a tight-fitting hug.

Although the headphones didn’t jostle while jogging, there’s something about completely covering your ears that creates a kind of bone-conducing sound. Every foot strike resulted in a thud inside my head, something that doesn’t happen with $29 iPhone EarPods. In addition, on-ear headphones squish your ears against your frames if you are wearing glasses.

Separate buttons for volume up, down and skipping forward and back were difficult to use, partly because I often hit a much larger button for pause and play instead.

That said, the sound is excellent, and I appreciate not having to worry about yanking my headphones off accidentally by snagging the cord.

With 10 hours of playback time per charge, these should outlast all but the most enduring athletes.

___

— Sonos Play:1 ($200 each):

The little brother to the company’s Play:3 and Play:5 speakers packs a big, immersive sound in a package the size of a pickle jar.

Unlike Bluetooth speakers, Sonos speakers run over Wi-Fi and need to be plugged into a power outlet. Through the end of the year, the company is throwing in, for no extra charge, a $50 Bridge adapter to attach to your router, so you can free yourself from having to plug an Ethernet cable into at least one speaker.

You can play digital tunes that you own or use streaming services such as Pandora and Rdio. I found Sonos’ Wi-Fi connection to be far more consistent than using other speakers with Bluetooth, which can cause skips now and then.
