Dynamiczna gra sieciowa łącząca elementy zręcznościówki oraz spopularyzowanego przez mod Defense of the Ancients gatunku MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). Gracze wcielają się w bóstwa
pochodzące z różnych mitologii i toczą ze sobą bitwy na dużych mapach. Celem jest dotarcie do bazy wroga i zniszczenie znajdującego się tam centrum dowodzenia.

Smite to produkcja koncentrująca się na sieciowych potyczkach pomiędzy graczami. Całość oparta jest na schemacie znanym z moda Defense of the Ancients do gry Warcraft III.
